Twenty years ago I stumbled upon the best career in the world.  I had planned on being a middle school math teacher when I came across an adult care home for sale.  I visited and decided that it was a business I could do with my young family by my side.  I’ve since learned a lot, struggled some, and had the privilege to care for some amazing people along the way.  In the last twenty years I’ve witnessed many changes to our industry but one thing remains constant, people look for their parents or loved ones to be taken care of the way they would care for them.  They look for a place they can trust that feels like home.  Our missions has always been to enrich the lives of those entrusted in our care.  With an amazing group of caregivers we strive to enrich lives daily.  Over the years my young family has expanded and grown.  I can now boast that I’m mom to four awesome young adults and one recently added son in law.  I enjoy spending time with them all.  God willing the next twenty years will be as blessed as the last.

I’m Kim Gillum, Director of the home and native of Rossville.   I grew up in a Rossville and spent all my school years here.  I am best known in Rossville as mom to my 18 year old son, Malcolm.  Malcolm is my pride and joy, is currently an EMT and volunteer firefighter and is studying law enforcement at Washburn University.  I have been a licensed social worker for almost thirty years and spent two decades in child welfare, working with children and their families in the mental health, foster care and adoption arena.  Fourteen years ago I decided to get an additional part time job which landed me in long term care and I again fell in love with another neat group of families.  In 2015,  I had the honor of meeting owner Mandy Wales who shared my vision of providing excellent care in an intimate setting and my dream for my hometown became a reality.  Each day I am surrounded by an incredible staff that shares this vision and work hard to create an incredible place for graceful aging for our extended family.

My name is Anna Coleman I am the Office Manager. I grew up in Valley Falls, Ks and graduated from Valley Falls High. I was very involved with sports and FCCLA all throughout school. I went to JCCC for Food and Beverage Management and have used what I learned to help in developing menus for the care homes. I’ve worked on and off as a CNA for my Mom (Mandy) since 2014. During college I worked for a Bakery in Lawrence. I reside in Topeka with my three big, fluffy fur babies who enjoy getting to visit residents. As a child I remember coming to work with mom to help pull weeds, do the dishes, mow the lawns or any task she had lined up for us kids. It is awesome to now be operating the house that I basically grew up in.
